I Hate Shopping

Shopping is a necessary evil. Usually I make due with a single Walmart trip per week. You just can't beat being able to puchase shampoo, motor oil, a laptop case and groceries all in the same place.

At Christmas each year I inevitably end up taking at least one trip to the (dreaded) mall. But that's it. No more. Well Christmas is over and I thought I was safe from all the shopping drudgery until next year. I just didn't count on the going back to school "necessities".

Here's where I went today:

The Bank
Kmart
Walmart
Sam's
Barnes & Noble
Best Buy
Chick-Fil-A for lunch (maybe that shouldn't count)
The LU Bookstore
Sean's office
Back to the LU Bookstore
LUPD for my parking permit
The (dreaded) mall for new tennis shoes
Office Max - a completely wasted trip as they never have what I need
Back to Walmart
and home.

I'm never leaving again! Or at least not until tomorrow.

Back to School

Well, after what has been a really long break in posting I'm back. Sean and I have gone through a lot of changes since I quit posting and it would be impossible to catch you up so I am just going to start from here. Maybe I will go back and fill you in later.

Starting next week I am going back to school. NO! Not back to working in a school! I am actually going back to College since I didn't finish the first time around. I will be going 2/3 time at Liberty University. I'm not exactly thrilled about being a 33 year old Sophomore, but I'm going to try to make the best of it. I will try to let you know how it turns out.

School Is Out!

Wow! I can’t believe we made it. Those last few days were grueling. I tried to get permission from my boss to duct tape the students to their chairs, but alas, he didn’t think it was a good idea. (or maybe it was a good idea, it would have just gotten us fired.) I never realized that the teachers looked forward to summer vacation even more than the students.

My last day was Friday and today I finally feel like I have recuperated!

Today is Sean's 31st Birthday! Yay!

This is my favorite time of the year. For three short weeks we are the same age (so he can't call me the "older" woman).

Happy St. Patty's Day

Since St. Patrick's day fell on a Saturday this year, we celebrated at school yesterday. I made sure to wear green and so did most of my 6th graders. The problem is - I didn't realize that pinching is a form of assault in a school environment and that I would have to spend so much time trying to get the students to stop. Ugh!

At least they didn't pinch me!

Wimsey has SARD's

We had some really bad news this week. Many of you know that Wimsey has been having trouble seeing and has been really thirsty and just acting weird lately. We took him to a vet last week and he ruled out diabetes and other diseases. He referred us to a Dog Ophthalmologist (I didn't even know they existed). So I took Wimsey in yesterday and he has been diagnosed with Sudden Acquired Retinal Degeneration (SARD).

The ophthalmologist said he will lose his remaining sight in the next 45 to 60 days. Needless to say, I am having a much harder time with this than the Wimsey is. Sometimes blindness is the only symptom of this hormone caused disease, but he may develop further symptoms. It can even develop into Cushing's disease which can be really bad for the dog.

Anyway, right now, he is not in pain. We are just trying to learn how to adjust things so he doesn't injure himself. He has stopped running into most things in the house, but he is afraid to leave on his leash - which used to be his favorite thing to do. So - pray for me. I hate to see him like this.

Snow Day #3

So-late last night Sean discovered that his house shoes work just as well as skis when you have a back yard full of ice. Wimsey thinks they are magic shoes and barks his head off.

I am really trying to figure out how to post a video so you can see it, but I am just not techno savvy enough. Someone help!
